TICKS safe baby wearing guidelines

TICKS Safety Guidelines for Baby-Wearing

Baby-wearing is a wonderful way to bond with your little one while also having your hands free to tackle other tasks. However, as with any activity involving a baby, safety is key! That's why here at VIXSA we want to ensure that all mothers and caregivers who use our Wrap Carriers and Ring Slings are familiar with the TICKS safety guidelines for baby-wearing.

TICKS is an acronym that stands for:

T - Tight
I - In view at all times
C - Close enough to kiss
K - Keep chin off the chest
S - Supported back/spine

Let's break down each of these guidelines and how they apply to baby-wearing with our VIXSA Carriers.

Tight

The carrier should be tight enough to keep your baby snug against your body, but not so tight that it restricts their breathing or movement. Our Wrap Carriers and Ring Sling Carriers are designed to be adjustable, so you can ensure a perfect fit for you and your baby.

In View at all Times

You should always be able to see your baby's face when they are in the carrier. This allows you to check on them and make sure they are comfortable and safe.

Close Enough to Kiss:

Your baby's head should be close enough to your chin that you can easily kiss the top of their head. This ensures that their airway is clear and that you can monitor their breathing.

Keep Chin off the Chest

Your baby's chin should not be pressed against their chest, as this can restrict their breathing. Both our Wrap & Ring Sling Carriers provide ample support for your baby's neck and head.

Supported Back

Your baby's back should be supported in a natural, curved position. Our carriers provide excellent support for your baby's spine and hips, ensuring they are in a comfortable and safe position. Both our Wrap Carriers and Ring Sling Carriers have been certified Hip Healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

In addition to following the TICKS safety guidelines, it's also important to be mindful of your baby's temperature and to never cover their face while in any Baby Carrier. Our Carriers are made from breathable and lightweight materials, making them perfect for all seasons.

At VIXSA, we take safety seriously and want to ensure that all parents and caregivers who use our Carriers feel confident and comfortable. By following the TICKS safety guidelines, you can rest assured that your little one is safe and secure while you enjoy the many benefits of baby-wearing.
